
Helene Gowers
Helene Gowers is AQ Dance’s Guest Classical Ballet Instructor – August 2013.
Ms Gowers started dancing under the tuition of Madame Kira Bousloff and her teachers included Kiril Vasilkovski, Louis Moreno and Shelley Rae. During this time she danced 2 seasons with the West Australian Ballet Company – Australia.
In 1978, she passed her Cecchetti Associate teaching exam with Honours.
As the Artistic Director of the Serenade Ballet Company, she was responsible for choreographing many of the Company’s Ballets and for designing costumes and sets. For the next 5 years, the Company toured Australia and held annual city seasons throughout. During this time, Ms Gowers taught in both the city and country areas.
In 1983, Helene established the Bunbury Academy of Dance and the Bunbury Junior Ballet Company. For the School and Company, she produced and directed many major productions (original and traditional). This included various public shopping centres’ shows twice a year. She was also invited to be Guest Classical Teacher for the state gymnastic team at the University of Western Australia Sports Department.
Ms Gowers upgraded to Licentiate in 1980 and passed her Fellowship in 1986.
She has also travelled to Europe and the World to study and observe the teaching methods of some of the world’s best teachers. This includes he Royal Ballet School, Singapore Dance Company, Australian Ballet School and the Cecchetti Centre in London – UK.
Ms Gowers now coaches all levels of the Cecchetti syllabus and travels all over Western Australia to promote the Cecchetti Method. She has choreographed dances included in the Australian Cecchetti Advanced 1 Major Syllabus.
